Gold prices are on a steady upward ascent, reinforcing the appeal of the yellow metal this week thanks to an increase in safe haven demand. Yesterday (Tuesday) saw gold hit another two-month high on the back of a strong performance last week, with prices around £1,368 ($1,848).
The higher prices come as risk appetite is dampened by geopolitical storm clouds, with investors particularly concerned about events on the border between Russia and the Ukraine. With NATO troops on high alert and various countries including the USA threatening sanctions against Russia, stock indexes have taken a serious hit. Add to this, growing concerns around inflation and gold is shining brightly.
