China has notably increased its acquisition of gold, buying more precious metal from Switzerland in July than it has in more than five years figures show. The Swiss Federal Customs Administration says its exports of bullion to China represent a 146% monthly increase, its highest since December 2016.
It’s likely that current gold pricing levels are encouraging new investment, with those buying with longer-term aspirations able to do so at a very favourable rate.
