Ronald-Peter Stoferle, best known in gold circles as the author of “In Gold We Trust” says that a recession is now inevitable. Speaking at the Deutsche Goldmesse event in Frankfurt, Stoferle said there was no prospect of the Fed’s desired soft landing, following months of tough measures to try and crack down on inflation.
He said, “It’s clear now that we have seen the peak in inflation numbers for this inflation wave. I expect that this inflation wave is now trending lower. This is because of the recession that is coming soon. I expect more inflation surprises over the downside over the next couple of months.
“A recession is now basically our base case. I just don’t see a soft landing happening. The last soft landing that we saw, they made a movie about it called ‘Sully.’”
As we have seen previously, gold thrives in a recession thanks to its well established safe-haven status. With Stoferle confident that not only is a recession inevitable but also imminent, we can expect gold prices to reflect this change in circumstances with a push to the upside.
Don’t wait until prices increase. Buy now to put yourself in a position of strength when the full force of recession hits.
